Everyday I'm worried about the increasing of intolerance about the inmigrants and foreigners in some countries, specially in USA and EUROPE, even it's better known for us that in LatinAmerican this phenomenons is not quite infrequently; it's an ironical that countries like Switzerland in example, with a great tradition in welcoming refugie people can has a really hard legislation about the inmigration, a legislation that will become harder thanks the last political changes, and the winning of CVP party which propose more hard-man with foreigners.  But, it's the inmigration a problem? It's the inmigration of the reason for the push up of criminality, in the case of Spain in the last five years, criminality and violent acts are increased in more that a 135%, statistical studies revelaed that most of people belive that this situation is thanks to the inmigration and the flexibiliation for inmigration laws in Spain, more over the last years mass legalization of foreigners, whice promoteds at "call-effect" specially in North-African and Latin America countries.

 

It's not easy to be pronounced about the inmigration, considering the fact I've been an inmigrant from 1996, and today I've become an inmigrant again, since Swtizerland is not in the EU. From my personal point of view, the inmigration fact is not the core problem; a country is really  enriched with the culture and diversity that is bringing into by the new peolple who arrives, new services and new emerging markets are opened thanks to new neighbours in town. In my personal testimonial, in year 1996 it was really hard to find cheaper way to call to Venezuela, and calling through Telefonica could not be avoided for a long time, there were not internet VOIP, nor Phone Cards and comm centres (Locutorios), my phone bill was really hughe some years; after year 2002 with the massive arrival of people from abroad an emerging market for telecomunications allowed to import some models from USA and other inmigrant tradtional countries; same happens with typical African and Latin American products, some years ago there wasn't way to find malta, cheap price for the Harina Pan or some bevergies and fresh products, but today that's possible thanks to the inmigration; more diversity and culture; in 2006 a great porcentage of enterpreneurs were foreigners in Spain, and a multicultural environment even with a wide speaking english is becoming a realty in some spanish companies, specially thore related with the New Technologies ( e-commerce ); ah new bohemian breath from new cultures is takking a privilegious place in the traditions corners of Barcelona. Besides this new cultural adveniment, in more practical terms it's demostrated that currently a great porcentage of foreigners are helping to support next 20-yeas of pensions since they represent a strong force into the laboral market.

 

But, it's not gold everything brilliant, the spanish case I lived in first hand, I've seen the changes of the sociaty and not all are good news; the massification and the uncontrolled arrival of people, not only from Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Easter Europe are stressed the public services, transport, health, in the last five years the Spain population growed up more than 12%, but the big problem arrivess with the isolation of these new-arrived societies, creating ghetto blocks into the same city, this voluntary ghettos caused by the rejection and tolerance (a tolerant person is not same like an accept person), and the tolerance for long time becomens in a intolerant answer for these minority groups; it's well known the case of latin and black bands in the USA, and today the arising of Latin Kings in Madrid and Barcelona. In my opinion is not an inmigration control problem, is an integration matter; local and national goverments must provide support for the real integration of people into the society, and this cannot be done thorugh carity programs; an equal treatment policies are needed, equal oportunities for everybody who has the qualifications for a job, education or living. I regret to hear that a citiy with a high quantity of inmigration becomes to be degradated, maybe the reason is not the inmigration fact, maybe the reason is that local goverments don't take over the integration problem and leave out the right maintenance of public services for these cities.

 

But I think the worst thing about the inmigration is the loosing of our historic memory, and leaving our role as inmigratant with take over as "country national" agains the new ones, we usually forgot about our first times in a new country or city, and treat these other people really bad; I have for you an example, one famous inmigrant, who forgots its begining in a new country, even he reached the "American Dream", please follow me thrugh the next link, and let me know yur thoughts.
